Nazareth will return to Budapest this autumn. One of the highlights of their Bending the Rules tour is the 50th anniversary of one of their biggest hits, Love Hurts, which the Scottish rock band first performed in 1975. They will play at Dürer Kert on November 27.

Nazareth belongs to the first generation of hard rock and heavy metal bands, alongside Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, and Deep Purple. The band was formed in 1968, and founding member Pete Agnew is still actively performing. His son, Lee Agnew, is now the drummer, joined by guitarist Jimmy Murrison and vocalist Carl Sentance. With over 30 million records sold, Nazareth is Scotland’s most successful rock band (alongside Simple Minds).

Love Hurts was performed as a power ballad 50 years ago and became the most popular version of the song originally written by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant. It is also the only rendition that became a hit single in the United States. The track reached number one in Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, and Norway. In Norway, it remained on the charts for 61 weeks, including 14 weeks at number one, making it the most successful single of all time in that country. On Spotify alone, it has been streamed 247 million times, and the number continues to grow by about a million each week.

This anniversary will be the central theme of the autumn tour, but of course, other classics will also be performed, including Dream On, This Flight Tonight, and Hair Of The Dog.
