Uriah Heep: The farewell tour arrives in Budapest this October

As part of their multi-year farewell tour, Uriah Heep will finally return to Budapest. After nearly six decades of pioneering hard rock, the band is gradually stepping back from touring, so Hungarian fans are expected to see them live for the last time on The Magician’s Farewell tour. The concert will take place on October 28 at Barba Negra.

Two years ago, Mick Box stated: “Who can believe the band was formed more than 50 years ago, in 1969? Many of you have been with us since the beginning, and we are extremely grateful for that. At the same time, none of us are getting any younger, so we’ve decided to gradually wind down touring the world.” He added that The Magician’s Farewell is not a drawn-out goodbye, but a conscious closing chapter: over the coming years, they aim to play as many places as possible and meet their audience one last time.

The tour serves as a summary of a career that has made Uriah Heep one of the defining acts in rock history. At the same time, the band will not disappear completely: after the tour, they plan to continue with occasional performances, mainly at festivals and special events. “We will keep playing as long as we can, but these will no longer be full tours,” Mick Box emphasized.

Uriah Heep was formed in London in late 1969 (originally under the name Spice) and adopted their current name in 1970. Their first concert as Uriah Heep took place on March 20 in Salisbury. Since then, they have performed more than 3,600 shows and have toured almost every year. Their discography includes 25 studio albums, with their latest release, Chaos & Colour, arriving in 2023.

Over nearly 60 years, the band has maintained its reputation as a powerful live act, retaining long-time fans while continuously attracting new audiences. The Budapest concert is therefore not just another stop, but part of the closing chapter of an era.
